The North American Butterfly Association

The South Jersey Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) strives to educate communities across southern New Jersey on local invertebrate conservation, be a leader in butterfly research, help celebrate and promote an interest in butterflying, and bring together nature enthusiasts of all kinds to aid in special projects to establish habitat for pollinators

About What We Do:

Programs

Our programs include guided walks in butterfly hotspots across South Jersey, wildlife gardening tours and education, workshops, public presentations, and community science projects relating to butterfly conservation

Already an avid butterflier and looking to participate in community science?

Butterfly Counts

The counts affiliated with the Chapter are both the national 4th of July Counts that the North American Butterfly Association does across the country, which includes the Belleplain Butterfly Count and the Cape May Butterfly Count, and we also do our own annual research counts within the Chapter. This includes the Winter Snout Survey, a spring Hessel’s Hairstreak survey, a late summer breeding monarch count done concertedly with the International Monarch Monitoring Bioblitz, and an autumn butterfly watch during the fall.
